K-LA5

K-LA5 is an investigational bicarbonate-based hemodialysis perfusate (dialysate) developed by Fuso Pharmaceutical Industries for the treatment of patients with chronic renal failure, including those with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) undergoing maintenance hemodialysis. As a dialysate, it is designed to facilitate the removal of metabolic waste products and the regulation of electrolyte and acid-base balance through diffusion and convection across a semipermeable membrane. In a Phase 3 randomized, active-controlled trial conducted in Japan, K-LA5 demonstrated comparable efficacy to the existing dialysate Kindaly AF-4 (K-4) in managing adjusted serum calcium levels. The study also indicated a similar safety profile between the two formulations, with no observed adverse drug reactions for K-LA5.
