Overview

K11 is an intra-articular injectable drug under development by Jiangsu Kanghe Bio-Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Ninth People's Hospital, Shanghai JiaoTong University School of Medicine. It is currently in Phase I clinical trials for the treatment of knee osteoarthritis. K11 is associated with the probiotic strain *Lacticaseibacillus casei K11*, which has demonstrated immunomodulatory effects. Its mechanism of action involves enhancing natural killer (NK) cell cytotoxicity through the activation of NKp30 and NKp46 receptors via the extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) pathway. Lipoteichoic acid derived from K11 has been identified as a key mediator in this NK cell activation.
