K110 is an investigational small molecule drug developed as a remyelinating agent for neurological diseases, specifically targeting nerve damage from conditions such as multiple sclerosis (MS). It is one of two lead compounds (alongside K102) identified and optimized by researchers at the University of California Riverside and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, continuing from work on indazole chloride analogs. K110 promotes repair of the myelin sheath, the protective layer around nerve fibers that is degraded in MS, and shows distinct central nervous system effects compared to K102, with preclinical data suggesting potential for other indications such as spinal cord injury and traumatic brain injury. The drug is currently licensed to Cadenza Bio for development and commercialization, with its patents held by UCR and UIUC. Clinical testing status is in preclinical preparation, with no human trial results reported yet[2].
