Overview

K6PC-9p is a synthetic ceramide derivative, specifically a phosphorylated pseudoceramide, developed for the topical treatment of atopic dermatitis and other inflammatory skin conditions. Chemically identified as N-(Ethyl dihydrogenphosphate)-2-hexyl-3-oxo-decanamide, it is derived from the pseudoceramide PC-9S. K6PC-9p exerts anti-inflammatory effects by suppressing the expression and secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines, including interleukin-4 (IL-4) and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha). In preclinical animal models, topical application of K6PC-9p has been shown to dose-dependently inhibit skin inflammation, reduce ear swelling, and decrease the infiltration of leucocytes and mast cells into the skin. It also demonstrates the ability to inhibit macrophage activation and T-cell-mediated cytokine production, suggesting a potential role in restoring skin barrier function while mitigating chronic immune responses in the dermis.
