Overview

KA-301 is an allogeneic cell therapy composed of human amnion-derived mesenchymal stem cells (AMSCs), developed by Kaneka Corporation. It is currently being investigated for the treatment of Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). AMSCs are isolated from the amniotic membrane of the human placenta and are believed to function by secreting various trophic factors and cytokines that reduce muscle inflammation, inhibit fibrosis, and support the regeneration of damaged muscle tissue. In clinical trials, KA-301 is administered via intravenous infusion to ambulatory patients with DMD who are on stable corticosteroid therapy to evaluate its safety and exploratory efficacy.
