Kaisailu

Kaisailu is a rectal osmotic laxative developed and marketed by Jinhua Enterprise (Ginwa) for the treatment of constipation. The preparation primarily contains glycerin (glycerol) as the active ingredient. When administered rectally as an enema, glycerin exerts a hyperosmotic effect, drawing water from the surrounding tissues into the colon. This process softens the stool and increases intraluminal pressure, which stimulates rectal contractions and the urge to defecate. Additionally, the viscous nature of glycerin provides local lubrication, facilitating the easier passage of feces. It is an approved medication in China for the rapid relief of occasional constipation.
