KAL-ABP is an amyloid-β-binding peptide that selectively targets the neurotoxic oligomeric form of amyloid-β42 implicated in Alzheimer's disease pathogenesis. Developed by the National Research Council Canada (NRC), it serves as the core therapeutic component in fusion proteins like KAL-ABP-BBB and KG207, which incorporate blood-brain barrier (BBB)-penetrating technology to enable brain delivery and removal of amyloid-β aggregates. Preclinical studies in transgenic rat, mouse, and dog models have demonstrated significant reductions in brain and cerebrospinal fluid amyloid-β levels, with PET imaging confirming target engagement and faster response compared to antibody therapies.[1][2][3][4][5][6]
