Drug intelligence / Profile preview
KAL_002 is an innovative live biotherapeutic product (LBP) being developed by Sichuan Yanyang Biotechnology for the treatment of radiation enteritis and chemotherapy-induced diarrhea. As a microbiome-based therapy, it consists of specific live anaerobic bacteria designed to colonize the gastrointestinal tract and restore microbial balance following damage from oncological treatments. The mechanism involves the modulation of the gut microbiota to suppress inflammatory responses and promote the repair of the intestinal mucosal barrier. Currently in the IND-enabling phase, KAL_002 represents a novel approach to managing the gastrointestinal toxicities associated with cancer therapy by leveraging the therapeutic potential of the human microbiome.
