Overview

Kallidinogenase, also known as pancreatic kininogenase, is a proteolytic enzyme typically extracted from porcine pancreas. It acts as a vasodilator by catalyzing the release of kinins, such as kallidin and bradykinin, from kininogens in the blood. These kinins subsequently activate bradykinin receptors, leading to smooth muscle relaxation, increased capillary permeability, and improved microcirculation. Developed and marketed by companies like Changzhou Qianhong Biopharma (under the brand name Yikai), it is primarily indicated for the treatment of microcirculatory disorders, including diabetic nephropathy, diabetic retinopathy, and peripheral vascular diseases. It is available in oral enteric-coated tablet and injectable forms.
