Drug intelligence / Profile preview
KAN-001 is a preclinical, fully defined Live Biotherapeutic Product (LBP) developed by Kanvas Biosciences. It is composed of dozens of bacterial strains originally isolated from a cancer patient who achieved a complete response to PD-1 inhibitor therapy. KAN-001 is designed to modulate the gut microbiome to enhance the host's immune system and improve the efficacy of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) for cancer patients who are resistant to such treatments. [2, 4, 6] The company is advancing KAN-001 towards an Investigational New Drug (IND) application, with a Phase 1 clinical trial planned for patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).
