Drug intelligence / Profile preview
KAN-007 is an oral, synthetic, multi-strain live biotherapeutic product (LBP) being developed by Kanvas Biosciences in collaboration with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. It is designed as a microbiome-restoring therapeutic to treat and prevent maternal environmental enteric dysfunction (EED), a chronic intestinal condition characterized by gut inflammation, mucosal damage, and leaky gut barriers that leads to nutrient malabsorption, maternal undernutrition, and poor infant birthweight. KAN-007 leverages Kanvas's proprietary spatial microbiome imaging platform and vertically integrated anaerobic manufacturing platform to deliver a defined, complex multi-strain bacterial consortium that restores gut microbiome health and displaces pathogenic bacteria.
