Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Kang Pi Lao Fang (KPLF) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula specifically developed for the treatment of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) and related fatigue conditions. The formulation is composed of five primary botanical ingredients: *Astragalus membranaceus* (Huang Qi), *Salvia miltiorrhiza* (Dan Shen), *Panax ginseng* (Ren Shen), *Epimedium brevicornu* (Yin Yang Huo), and *Lycium barbarum* (Gou Qi Zi). KPLF is hypothesized to exert its therapeutic effects by modulating the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis, reducing systemic inflammation, and alleviating oxidative stress. Preclinical and clinical studies suggest that the formula can upregulate brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) expression and regulate the levels of inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-alpha and IL-6, thereby improving cognitive function and physical endurance in patients suffering from chronic exhaustion.
