Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Kangai injection** is an intravenous multi-herb traditional Chinese medicine product developed and manufactured by Jilin Changbaishan Pharmaceutical Group. It contains botanical extracts derived from Astragalus membranaceus, Panax ginseng, and Sophora flavescens, with measurable circulating constituents including oxymatrine, matrine, astragaloside IV, and several ginsenosides. It is a China-approved adjunctive treatment used alongside anticancer therapy, particularly for lung cancer, primary liver cancer, and rectal cancer; published meta-analyses have evaluated its use with platinum chemotherapy in advanced non-small cell lung cancer. ([sciencedirect.com](https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0944711322001660))\n\nKangai injection does not have a single defined molecular target. Experimental studies suggest antiproliferative and immunomodulatory effects that may involve suppression of interleukin-6 and STAT3 signaling, as well as modulation of TNFR2, PI3K, AKT, and NF-kappa-B pathway activity. These molecular findings are largely derived from cell-based and network-pharmacology studies and should not be interpreted as establishing direct, selective target engagement for the complete herbal formulation.
