Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Kangfu Anti-inflammatory Suppository (Kangfu Xiaoyan Shuan) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) product developed for the treatment of gynecological inflammatory conditions, particularly pelvic inflammatory disease (PID). Developed in association with the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, the formulation consists of eight herbal ingredients: *Sophora flavescens*, *Dioscorea nipponica*, *Taraxacum mongolicum*, *Viola philippica*, *Aloe barbadensis*, *Patrinia villosa*, *Manis pentadactyla*, and processed *Glycyrrhiza uralensis*. These components work synergistically to 'clear heat,' 'detoxify,' and 'remove dampness,' which in modern pharmacological terms translates to anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and broad-spectrum antibacterial activities. The drug is typically administered rectally, allowing for direct absorption into the pelvic circulation, and is frequently used as an adjunct to antibiotic therapy to improve clinical outcomes and reduce the risk of chronic sequelae in patients with dampness-heat accumulation syndrome.
