Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Kangfuxin enteric capsule is an investigational oral formulation of the *Periplaneta americana* (American cockroach) extract, a traditional Chinese medicine recognized for its ability to accelerate wound healing and mucosal repair. The extract is rich in bioactive peptides, amino acids, and polyols that promote the proliferation of fibroblasts and the formation of granulation tissue, while also exerting anti-inflammatory effects by modulating cytokine levels such as TNF-α and IL-6. The enteric-coated delivery system is designed to protect the active components from gastric acid, ensuring targeted release in the intestines. This formulation is currently being evaluated in Phase II clinical trials in China as an adjunctive therapy to mesalazine for the treatment of mild to moderate active ulcerative colitis, aiming to enhance mucosal healing and clinical remission.
