Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The Kangtai hepatitis B vaccine is a recombinant protein subunit vaccine produced in yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) expressing the hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg). Developed by Shenzhen Kangtai Biological Products (Bio-Kangtai), it is designed for active immunization against hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. The vaccine is available in various strengths, including a high-dose 60 μg formulation specifically intended for adults who are non-responders or low-responders to conventional 20 μg doses. It has been evaluated in clinical trials for both standard (0, 1, 6 months) and rapid (0, 2 months) immunization schedules to provide flexible and effective protection against HBV. The vaccine works by inducing the production of specific antibodies (anti-HBs) that neutralize the hepatitis B virus.
