Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Kaprolac K70 is a topical solution developed by Moberg Pharma (formerly Moberg Derma) for the treatment of distal subungual onychomycosis and nail psoriasis. The formulation is a combination of propylene glycol, urea, and lactic acid. Unlike traditional pharmacological antifungal agents, Kaprolac K70 exerts its therapeutic effect through physical and chemical mechanisms. It hydrates the nail plate, facilitates the debridement of hyperkeratotic nail tissue (keratolytic action), and acidifies the nail microenvironment to create an unfavorable condition for fungal growth. The product has been evaluated in Phase 3 clinical trials and is widely marketed globally as an over-the-counter treatment. In many jurisdictions, including the European Union, it is regulated as a medical device due to its physical mode of action.
