Karyocyte scavenger is an intervention developed by The health ministry technology JiaoYuSi key projects (201002005) and West China Hospital, Sichuan University. It is being investigated for its safety in intraoperative blood salvage during oncosurgery for cancer. The intervention aims to remove karyocytes, which are nucleated cells, from the blood, likely to prevent the re-transfusion of cancer cells to the patient during surgery.
