Drug intelligence / Profile preview
KAT-001 is a preclinical-stage small molecule anticancer therapeutic being developed by NewG Lab Pharma. The drug is designed to target the Warburg Effect, a metabolic hallmark of cancer characterized by aerobic glycolysis, where tumor cells metabolize glucose through glycolysis even in the presence of oxygen. By targeting this altered metabolic pathway, KAT-001 aims to disrupt the energy production and biosynthetic mechanisms that cancer cells rely on for rapid growth and survival. It is currently in preclinical development for the treatment of liver cancer, specifically hepatocellular carcinoma, with plans to transition into clinical trials.
