Overview
KAT-006 is a small molecule anticancer therapeutic being developed by NewG Lab Pharma that targets the Warburg Effect (aerobic glycolysis) for the treatment of leukemia. The Warburg Effect is a metabolic adaptation where cancer cells prioritize glycolysis for energy production even when oxygen is plentiful, a process that supports rapid cell growth and survival. KAT-006 is designed to inhibit this metabolic pathway, thereby selectively depriving leukemia cells of the energy and building blocks they need to proliferate. Part of the KoDiscovery Anticancer Therapeutics (KAT) pipeline, KAT-006 is currently in the preclinical stage, with the company preparing for clinical trials in the United States and potentially Australia.
