Overview

KAYVIRUS DSM 33474 is a specific strain of a lytic bacteriophage belonging to the *Kayvirus* genus. Bacteriophages, or phages, are viruses that specifically infect and destroy bacteria. [8] The *Kayvirus* genus is known for its broad host range and potent lytic activity against *Staphylococcus aureus*, including multidrug-resistant strains (MRSA), making them promising candidates for antibacterial therapy. [7, 9, 12] This particular strain is associated with the developer MB PHARMA s.r.o. and is understood to be a component of their product DUOFAG®, a bacteriophage cocktail. [1, 2] DUOFAG® is a topical solution in clinical development for treating complicated wound infections caused by *Staphylococcus aureus* and *Pseudomonas aeruginosa*. [1, 4] Within this combination product, KAYVIRUS DSM 33474 would be the active component targeting *S. aureus*.
