KB-001

KB-001 is a PEGylated Humaneered monoclonal antibody Fab fragment developed by KaloBios for severe **Pseudomonas aeruginosa** infections. It is designed to bind and neutralize PcrV, a structural component of the bacterial type III secretion system, thereby blocking delivery of cytotoxic effector proteins into host cells rather than directly killing the organism like a conventional antibiotic. The program was studied primarily in patients with cystic fibrosis chronically infected with *P. aeruginosa* and in mechanically ventilated patients at risk of *P. aeruginosa* pneumonia. Clinical development reached Phase 2, but further development in cystic fibrosis was not pursued.
