kb-NB142-70 is a small molecule inhibitor of protein kinase D (PKD) that was investigated for its potential as an anticancer agent, specifically for prostate and pancreatic cancers. Developed by researchers at the University of Pittsburgh, the compound targets PKD, which is a family of serine/threonine kinases implicated in the growth and survival of certain tumor cells. In preclinical studies, kb-NB142-70 demonstrated in vitro cytotoxicity against Pc 3 prostate and Panc-1 pancreatic cancer cell lines. Pharmacokinetic studies in mice indicated that the drug has a short plasma half-life of approximately 6 minutes and is primarily metabolized through glucuronidation and eliminated via urinary excretion.
