KB001

KB001 is a PEGylated, recombinant, Humaneered anti-Pseudomonas monoclonal antibody Fab fragment developed by Humanigen for cystic fibrosis patients with chronic *Pseudomonas aeruginosa* airway infection. The drug binds PcrV, a component required for the bacterial type III secretion system, thereby functionally blocking this virulence pathway and aiming to reduce pathogen-mediated inflammation and lung injury rather than directly killing the organism. KB001 was studied as an intravenous biologic in Phase 1/2 single-dose trials in cystic fibrosis, showed an acceptable safety profile and anti-inflammatory activity, and later development of the repeat-dose successor KB001-A in cystic fibrosis was discontinued after Phase 2 studies failed to meet the primary endpoint.
