Overview

KB002 is a chimeric (engineered) human monoclonal antibody that targets and neutralizes granulocyte macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF). By binding to GM-CSF, it inhibits the activity of this cytokine, which plays a key role in inflammation and immune cell activation. The drug was developed as an immunosuppressant for conditions involving excessive or inappropriate immune responses. It was initially developed by Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research and later investigated by KaloBios Pharmaceuticals for diseases such as persistent asthma and chronic immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP). Development of KB002 has been discontinued[1][2][3][7].
