Drug intelligence / Profile preview
KB109 is a novel Microbiome Metabolic Therapy (MMT™) developed by Kaleido Biosciences. It is a synthetic glycan designed to modulate the structure and function of the gut microbiome to influence the host immune system and metabolic processes. KB109 was primarily investigated for the treatment of mild-to-moderate COVID-19, where it aimed to reduce the duration of symptoms and prevent complications by managing the inflammatory response. It was also being explored for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and for reducing the colonization of multi-drug resistant organisms in the gastrointestinal tract. However, development was halted when Kaleido Biosciences ceased operations in 2022.
