KB14A is a monoclonal antibody developed by KBio as a novel antifungal agent with first-in-class potential. It is designed to treat aspergillosis and candidiasis, two of the most common and drug-resistant fungal infections globally. The mechanism of action involves targeting beta 1,3 glucan, an essential component of the fungal cell wall. This targeted approach aims to disrupt the integrity of the fungal cell wall, leading to antifungal effects. Preclinical data suggest that KB14A offers an improved safety profile and fewer side effects compared to current standard-of-care antifungals.
