Overview

KB15A is a non-hormonal contraceptive candidate developed by ZabBio Inc. It consists of an anti-sperm monoclonal antibody (KB15A.16.2) formulated into a polyvinyl-alcohol (PVA) based intravaginal film. The antibody is designed to target and agglutinate sperm cells within the vaginal environment, effectively trapping them in mucus and preventing them from reaching the egg for fertilization. This localized approach aims to provide an on-demand contraceptive option that avoids the systemic side effects associated with hormonal birth control. KB15A is currently being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials to assess its safety, mucosal pharmacokinetics, and local distribution following single and multiple dosing in healthy adult women.
