KB3305

KB3305 is a first-in-class, orally active, liver-selective glucocorticoid receptor (GR) antagonist. Developed by Karo Bio (now Karo Pharma) in collaboration with Abbott Laboratories, the compound was designed to treat type 2 diabetes by selectively inhibiting glucocorticoid action in the liver, thereby reducing hepatic glucose production. In addition to its glucose-lowering effects, KB3305 has demonstrated the potential to improve lipid profiles by lowering plasma levels of LDL-cholesterol, triglycerides, and free fatty acids. The drug successfully completed Phase I clinical trials, where it exhibited predictable pharmacokinetics and a favorable safety profile without serious adverse events.
