Drug intelligence / Profile preview
KBD031 is a small molecule inhibitor of the NLRP3 (NLR family pyrin domain containing 3) inflammasome, currently under development by Chengdu Baiyu Jingelai Pharmaceutical. The NLRP3 inflammasome is a multiprotein complex that plays a pivotal role in the innate immune system by sensing various danger signals and pathogen-associated molecular patterns. Upon activation, it facilitates the maturation and secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines, specifically interleukin-1β (IL-1β) and interleukin-18 (IL-18), through the activation of caspase-1. Dysregulation of the NLRP3 pathway is linked to a broad spectrum of inflammatory conditions, including metabolic, cardiovascular, and neurodegenerative diseases. KBD031 is designed to selectively block NLRP3 activation, thereby reducing the production of these inflammatory mediators and providing a potential therapeutic strategy for various inflammatory diseases.
