Drug intelligence / Profile preview
KBMSI-2 is a multi-component herbal formulation developed for the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED). It consists of six primary ingredients: Ginseng Radix Rubra (Red Ginseng), Dioscorea tenuipes, Cornus officinalis (Cornelian cherry), Lycium chinense (Goji berry), Curcuma longa (Turmeric), and Honey. Preclinical studies in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rat models suggest that the formula improves erectile function by preserving smooth muscle content and inhibiting fibrosis within the corpus cavernosum, likely through the upregulation of nitric oxide synthase (NOS) and inhibition of the TGF-beta1 signaling pathway. Clinical evaluation has focused on its efficacy and safety in patients with ED, utilizing the International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF) and Sexual Health Inventory for Men (SHIM) scores as primary endpoints.
