KBP-089

KBP-089 is a novel dual amylin and calcitonin receptor agonist (DACRA) developed for the treatment of obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus. It acts as an agonist at both the amylin receptor and the calcitonin receptor, leading to weight loss primarily through reduction in fat mass while preserving or slightly increasing lean mass. In preclinical studies, KBP-089 demonstrated significant suppression of food intake, improved glucose tolerance with lowered plasma insulin levels, reduced gastric emptying rate, and altered food preference towards healthier options.
