Overview

KBP-2506 is a small molecule antagonist of the Mas-related G-protein coupled receptor member X2 (MRGPRX2), currently in preclinical development by Keythera Biopharmaceuticals. MRGPRX2 is a G-protein coupled receptor primarily expressed on mast cells that mediates non-IgE-dependent mast cell degranulation. By blocking this receptor, KBP-2506 aims to inhibit the release of inflammatory mediators like histamine and tryptase, which are central to the pathogenesis of various allergic and inflammatory skin conditions. The drug is being investigated for the treatment of chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU), atopic dermatitis (AD), and other allergic diseases, with the goal of providing a best-in-class therapeutic profile characterized by favorable pharmacokinetics and safety.
