KBP-336 is a long-acting dual amylin and calcitonin receptor agonist (DACRA) administered as a weekly subcutaneous injection. It is being developed primarily for the treatment of obesity, knee osteoarthritis in obese individuals, and type 2 diabetes. KBP-336 acts by activating both the amylin and calcitonin receptors, leading to decreased food intake, weight loss, improved glycemic control, insulin sensitization, antinociception (pain relief), and bone protection. Preclinical studies have shown that KBP-336 reduces body weight and adipose tissue size while improving pain thresholds in animal models of osteoarthritis. Clinical trials are ongoing to evaluate its efficacy in reducing knee pain associated with osteoarthritis in obese patients as well as its metabolic benefits for obesity and diabetes prevention[1][2][4][5][6][7].
