Overview

KBP-8107 is an investigational small molecule being developed by KBP BioSciences for the treatment of Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis (FSGS). It functions as a potent and selective antagonist of the Endothelin A (ETa) receptor. The endothelin system, particularly the ETa receptor, is heavily implicated in the progression of proteinuric kidney diseases; its overactivation leads to podocyte injury, inflammation, vasoconstriction, and subsequent renal fibrosis. By selectively blocking the ETa receptor while sparing the Endothelin B (ETb) receptor—which is involved in beneficial processes like vasodilation and endothelin clearance—KBP-8107 aims to reduce proteinuria and preserve kidney function in patients with FSGS.
