KC706 is a novel anti-inflammatory small molecule drug that acts as an allosteric inhibitor of p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (p38 MAP kinase). By inhibiting p38 MAP kinase, a key regulator of inflammatory mediators such as TNFα and IL-1 beta, KC706 modulates the inflammatory response and has demonstrated disease-modifying effects in conditions like rheumatoid arthritis by preventing joint tissue destruction. It was developed for oral and topical administration to treat various chronic inflammatory disorders, including rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn’s disease, COPD, psoriasis, and pemphigus vulgaris. The drug was developed by Kemia and has completed Phase II clinical trials for several autoimmune diseases.
