Overview

KC7F2 is a small molecule research compound that functions as a potent inhibitor of hypoxia-inducible factor 1-alpha (HIF-1α). Unlike direct inhibitors, KC7F2 operates by down-regulating the synthesis of the HIF-1α protein. Its mechanism of action involves the suppression of the phosphorylation of eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4E-binding protein 1 (4EBP1) and p70 S6 kinase, which are critical regulators of the protein translation machinery. By inhibiting the HIF-1α-VEGF signaling pathway, KC7F2 exhibits significant antiangiogenic and antiproliferative effects, particularly under hypoxic conditions. It has been primarily investigated in preclinical models for potential therapeutic applications in various cancers and retinal neovascularization.
