KCCFPAQ-GGGSK-FITC is a synthetic, fluorescently labeled heptapeptide probe designed for targeted detection of human colon cancer. The peptide sequence (KCCFPAQ) was identified via phage display screening against human colorectal cancer cells and specifically binds to the cell surface protein peroxiredoxin 1 (Prdx1), which is overexpressed in certain colorectal neoplasms. The GGGSK linker separates the peptide from the FITC fluorophore to minimize steric hindrance and optimize binding. This agent has been evaluated in preclinical animal models and early-phase clinical studies for its safety and utility as a topical imaging agent during colonoscopy, aiming to improve detection of sessile serrated adenomas and other precancerous lesions[1][2][4].
