Drug intelligence / Profile preview
KCF-BC1 is a scaffold-free, three-dimensional osteochondral cell construct developed using bio-3D printing technology. It is composed of adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells (ADSCs) shaped into a cylindrical structure. Developed through a collaboration between Keio University Hospital, Fujita Health University, and Cyfuse Biomedical, KCF-BC1 is designed to simultaneously regenerate both bone and cartilage. It is surgically implanted into a cylindrical bone tunnel at the osteonecrotic knee lesion in patients with spontaneous osteonecrosis of the medial femoral condyle (idiopathic knee osteonecrosis) to promote tissue restoration and potentially delay or avoid total knee replacement.
