Overview

KCN1 is a synthetic small molecule arylsulfonamide identified as a **potent inhibitor of the hypoxia inducible factor-1 (HIF-1) pathway**[1][2]. It acts by disrupting the interaction between HIF-1α and its transcriptional co-activators p300/CBP, thereby inhibiting HIF-1-mediated transcription and the expression of downstream target genes such as VEGF, Glut-1, and carbonic anhydrase 9. KCN1 has demonstrated *in vivo* anticancer activity, significantly inhibiting tumor growth in glioma and pancreatic cancer xenograft models with minimal host toxicity. It is considered a first-in-class HIF pathway inhibitor and is under preclinical evaluation for cancer treatment, notably glioblastoma and pancreatic cancer[1][2].
