Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**KconecaVac** is a recombinant, replication-deficient chimpanzee adenovirus (ChAdOx1) vector vaccine encoding the SARS-CoV-2 spike (S) glycoprotein, manufactured by Shenzhen Kangtai Biological Products (BioKangtai) in partnership with AstraZeneca. It is indicated for active immunization to prevent COVID-19 in individuals 18 years and older, administered as two intramuscular doses (0.5 mL each) 4-12 weeks apart, preferably 8-12 weeks. The vaccine expresses the S protein locally to elicit neutralizing antibodies and cellular immune responses, with clinical data showing ~70-80% efficacy against symptomatic COVID-19 and seroconversion in >99% post-second dose. It received Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) from Indonesia's BPOM in October 2021, with over 30 million doses exported primarily to Indonesia.[1][2][5][8]
