KD-95 is a small molecule derivative of the novel Liver X receptor (LXR) ligand GAC0001E5 (1E5). It functions as an LXR inverse agonist and a "degrader" of LXR proteins, specifically reducing LXR protein stability and levels following treatment. Developed by researchers at the University of Houston, KD-95 has demonstrated significant anti-proliferative effects in human pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) cell lines. Unlike traditional LXR inverse agonists such as SR9238, which may increase LXR protein levels, KD-95 promotes proteasomal and autophagy-mediated degradation of the receptor, suggesting that reducing LXR expression is essential for inhibiting pancreatic cancer cell growth.
