KD7040

KD7040 is a topically-delivered small molecule drug developed as a potent and selective inhibitor of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS, also known as NOS2). It was formulated as a topical gel for the treatment of neuropathic pain conditions, particularly postherpetic neuralgia (PHN) and herpes zoster-related pain. The mechanism of action involves inhibition of iNOS dimerization, thereby reducing the production of nitric oxide implicated in inflammatory and neuropathic pain pathways. The drug was discovered and developed by Kalypsys. Clinical development reached Phase 2 trials for postherpetic neuralgia and herpes zoster[1][3][4][5][7].
