KDF-07002 is a small molecule, selective mineralocorticoid receptor antagonist (MRA) being developed by Kissei Pharmaceutical for the treatment of chronic kidney disease (CKD). As an MRA, it is designed to block the activation of the mineralocorticoid receptor by aldosterone, a process that, when overactive, contributes to renal inflammation, oxidative stress, and fibrosis. By inhibiting these deleterious pathways, KDF-07002 aims to slow the progression of kidney damage and preserve renal function in patients with CKD. The compound has undergone early-stage clinical evaluation, including a Phase 1 randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled dose-escalation study in healthy adult male volunteers to assess its safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetic profile.
