KDM1A shRNA is a short hairpin RNA (shRNA) designed to knockdown the expression of lysine-specific histone demethylase 1A (KDM1A), also known as LSD1. In the context of glioblastoma (GBM) research, KDM1A knockdown has been shown to reduce the stemness of glioma stem cells (GSCs) and sensitize them to endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress inducers, radiation, and chemotherapy (temozolomide). Mechanistically, KDM1A inhibition or knockdown activates the unfolded protein response (UPR) and attenuates DNA damage response (DDR) pathways. This research is primarily conducted by investigators at the University of Texas Health San Antonio.
