Overview

KdPT is a synthetic tetrapeptide consisting of the amino acids lysine, aspartate, proline, and threonine, derived from the C-terminal sequence (amino acids 10-13) of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH). Developed by Dr. August Wolff GmbH & Co KG, it acts as an anti-inflammatory agent by targeting the melanocortin system, specifically the melanocortin 1 receptor (MC1R). Unlike its parent hormone, KdPT lacks the melanotropic (pigment-inducing) effects while retaining potent immunomodulatory properties, including the inhibition of pro-inflammatory cytokines and NF-κB activation. It has been primarily investigated in Phase 2 clinical trials for the treatment of acute mild to moderate ulcerative colitis, where it was evaluated for its ability to induce clinical remission and mucosal healing.
