KDS-1000

KDS-1000 (also known as K-NK-ID-101) is an allogeneic, "off-the-shelf" natural killer (NK) cell therapy developed by Kiadis Pharma (a Sanofi company). The therapy utilizes expanded and activated NK cells derived from healthy donors, leveraging Kiadis's proprietary K-NK cell platform. KDS-1000 was specifically developed as an immunotherapy to treat patients with mild to moderate COVID-19 who were at risk for complications. The mechanism involves the direct identification and destruction of SARS-CoV-2 infected cells by the infused NK cells, thereby augmenting the patient's innate immune response. A Phase 1/2a clinical trial (NCT04634370) was initiated to evaluate the safety and efficacy of KDS-1000, but the program was terminated in 2022 following a strategic decision by Sanofi to discontinue its COVID-19 cell therapy development.
