Keganliyan is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation developed as an in-hospital preparation by the Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine. It is primarily administered as an oral liquid for the treatment of upper respiratory tract infections (URTI) and associated conditions such as acute pharyngitis and tonsillitis, particularly in pediatric patients. The formulation is designed according to TCM principles to clear heat, resolve toxicity, and benefit the throat (Liyan). Clinical evaluation of the drug has included retrospective medical record studies to assess its application and characteristics in children aged 3 to 14 years presenting with upper respiratory system diseases.
