Overview

TJ-50 is the product code for Keigairengyoto, a traditional Japanese Kampo medicine developed and manufactured by Tsumura & Co. It is a complex herbal formulation composed of 17 crude drugs, including Schizonepeta Spike, Forsythia Fruit, and Scutellaria Root. Keigairengyoto is approved in Japan as an ethical pharmaceutical for the treatment of chronic sinusitis, chronic tonsillitis, and acne vulgaris. It is traditionally indicated for individuals with a specific constitutional type characterized by a tendency toward inflammatory conditions of the skin and mucous membranes. The formulation is thought to exert therapeutic effects through a combination of anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and immunomodulatory activities. Clinical research, including the jRCTs031180048 trial, has evaluated its efficacy as an adjunctive therapy following endoscopic sinus surgery to improve postoperative outcomes and quality of life.
