Kekkan Biologics VEGF splice variant therapeutic

Kekkan Biologics is developing a therapeutic antibody (initially researched as polyclonal antibodies) targeting novel splice variant isoforms of the vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), specifically designated as **VEGFXXX/NF**. These variants were identified by researchers at the University of Nice Côte d'Azur and the Institute for Research on Cancer and Aging (IRCAN) as being less susceptible to inhibition by conventional anti-VEGF/VEGFR therapies such as bevacizumab. By specifically targeting these isoforms, the therapeutic aims to inhibit both angiogenesis and lymphangiogenesis in tumors that have developed resistance to standard treatments. Preclinical evidence has demonstrated that targeting these VEGFXXX/NF isoforms can significantly slow tumor growth in models of clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC).
